Who are we? We are a large group of people who rent allotments from Sunderland City Council.
Where are we? The site is located on Shields Road Sunderland.
What is an allotment? An allotment is a small area of land provided by the Council for rent. It can be used for the growing of fruit and vegetables for you and your family. Some plots are used for the keeping of livestock. They are also important as rewarding pastimes.

A short history. The allotments have been in Sunderland on the present site for approximately 50 years. The site was re-located to make way for Monkwearmouth Comprehensive School. The allotments are self managed with 340 plots which makes it one of the largest sites in the country.
